The Sacred Valley Train
PeruRail’s Sacred Valley Train is a premium train ride that takes you on a very comfortable journey from the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu. Enjoy the stunning landscapes out your window with a gourmet lunch or dinner aboard as you travel to Machu Picchu by train. Head to the Observatory car for a drink at the bar to soak up the scenery. If you are looking for a more luxurious option, also consider the journeying to Machu Picchu on the First Class Machu Picchu Train, or Belmond Hiram Bingham.
The Experience
Boarding the train in Urubamba in the Sacred Valley you will be greeted with an Andean infusion tea which you can enjoy in the Observatory Bar. This is an ideal space to soak up the landscapes of the Sacred Valley that are passing by. It is also possible to catch the train when it stops briefly at Belmond Rio Sagrado and Ollantaytambo train station en route to Machu Picchu.
On the trip to Machu Picchu lunch will be served; on the journey back you can enjoy dinner. Meals include an appetizer, entree and dessert, accompanied by a glass of wine and petit fours. All meals are served in the comfortable Dining Car.
Sacred Valley Train Times – NOT OPERATIONAL UNTIL 2022
The train operates everyday except for the first Sunday of each month. These are the train times to and from Urubamba. Please contact us for the latest train times and availability.
- Depart Urubamba Station at 10:30 and arrive at Machu Picchu Station at approximately 13:34.
- Depart Machu Picchu Station at 19:30 and arrive at Urubamba Station at approximately 22:37.
Alternative trains to Machu Picchu
Alternative premium trains include Inca Rail’s First Class Machu Picchu train. You can also upgrade to the luxurious Belmond Hiram Bingham.
