Inkaterra La casona is a gorgeous luxury boutique hotel in the heart of Cusco from the eco-conscious five-star Peruvian chain Inkaterra. Inkaterra La Casona is one of the best luxury hotels in Cusco and a popular choice for discerning travelers. With just 11 rooms in total, we recommend booking this hotel well in advance.
Inkaterra La Casona
The charming colonial-era property has prime location in the historic center situated on the tranquil Plazoleta de Las Nazarenas and its cobbled streets, by the Museum of Pre-Colombian art and opposite luxury hotels Belmond Palacio Nazarenas and Belmond Monasterio. Operating like a private grand home, the street-level doorway on the public square is kept closed with little to indicate the hidden palatial house and serene ambiance behind it. There are just 11 rooms, as well as a small massage room, library and restaurant.
Steeped in history
This grand 16th century colonial manor house was perhaps the first Spanish construction in Cusco to be built over an Inca complex. The property stands on the training grounds for an elite army of Incas and had Spanish Conquistador Diego de Almagro and ‘Libertador’ Simón Bolívar among its illustrious guests. Details from its historic past- from its impressive courtyard arches to works of art – have been carefully restored by Inkaterra to retain its former splendor.
Refined Elegance
Inkaterra La Casona has original architectural and artistic features, set around a central courtyard. The style of decor draws heavily on its historic past with colonial furniture and artwork adorning rooms and the hallways, complemented by modern touches to produce a sumptuous, luxurious hotel with a strong sense of place. The warm tones of the lobby area are punctuated by traditional Peruvian textiles and rugs, welcoming visitors to curl up in the roomy chairs and sofas. This grown-up property is best suited to adults or families with older chilren.
