The sheer scope and scale of South America means that we can hand-craft ideal travel itineraries, no matter what the motivation is for travel here. After nearly two decades of crafting trips for Aracari guests, we’ve come up with a few guest profiles of the different styles of travellers that we tend to attract and have created itineraries with their tastes and requirements in mind. Read below to meet our guests. Intense Adventurers Short on time but not on aspiration, Intense Adventurers want to experience the exhilarating highs, the best and the most dynamic aspects of South America even if it means having to “rough it” once in a while. If camping, hiking and exploring lesser-visited sites are appealing, a few itineraries to consider are Peru’s Best Kept Secret and Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Culture Connoisseurs Culture Conoisseurs seek immersion in thousands of years of unparalleled history and culture. They want to soak up the essence of the country they are visiting through guided tours of the best museums and archaelogical sites, by visiting authentic markets and boutiques, and over a meal with a local who can share a meal and a stimulating discussion about art, history or whatever might be of interest. Our Cultural Connoisseurs are often drawn to these itineraries: Peru with Flavor, Highlights of Northern Peru, or History and Evolution. Honeymooners Newlyweds with Aracari desire luxurious comfort, style and indulgence in a richly romantic, magical setting – perhaps with an element of adventure or culture to make it a truly unforgettable experience. One recommendation is Luxury Meets Authenticity. Global families There’s no better education than to experience the rainforest, the history, the geography and the culture with your children. Share valuable time together having fun and learning in one of the richest regions in the world.

Lima is home to a range of exclusive private homes. Casa García Alvarado is a Republican home in the heart of Miraflores that welcomes visitors behind closed doors to visit the grounds and enjoy a meal with the owners for an exclusive insight into Lima's history. Casa Garcia Alvarado in Lima At the beginning of the twentieth century, Lima’s upper class started to move from the center of Lima towards the coast. Miraflores became one of the first residential districts where Limeños purchased land and built vacation-style homes. One of these houses, Casa García Alvarado, not only still stands in very good condition, but is open to visitors interested in learning about the history of Lima from the perspective of a Peruvian family. It is also available for private lunches and dinners as well as private functions such as wedding receptions. Meeting the owners Aracari visited recently and was welcomed by the owner Mrs. Ana Maria García Alvarado de Astudillo for a tour and to enjoy this special insider experience in Peru. We were greeted at the door and lead into the drawing room and offered a pisco sour each or a non-alcoholic refreshment and the rounds of hors d’oeuvres began. Ana Maria soon joined us and greeted us in perfect English, explaining that she went to an American school in Lima run by nuns from Philadelphia when she was young. She is now so accustomed to conversing in English with the guests she shows her house to that giving descriptions and telling stories often comes out automatically in English instead of her native Spanish. She also speaks basic Italian and German. Life growing up in Lima As we spoke with Ana Maria and enjoyed our hors d’oeuvres she told us about her childhood growing up in the house, how her

We're a member of the Adventure Travel Trade Association! Aracari is proud to announce we're a member of the Adventure Travel Trade Association! Operating adventure trips in Peru since we started back in 1996, we felt it was high time that we supported the efforts of this global membership organization, which has social and environmental ethics at the heart of their efforts. The ATTA is an association of 800 members, ranging from tour operators, travel agents, guides, and media representatives, all of whom are dedicated to promoting responsible adventure travel around the world. As one of the only upscale travel agencies in Peru to operate our own treks, we are able to provide a very high standard of trekking experiences in the Andean region, with the assurance that every detail is catered for. Offering short camping treks, treks that take you close to local communities, multi-day high altitude treks, and anywhere in between, our guests get to know the region, its landscapes, its history, and its people through up-close-and-personal immersion. We have been recognized for our expertise in adventure travel before, most recently, in May 2013, Travel + Leisure featured our trek to Apu Huayllanay on their Ultimate Guide to Trekking, Walking, & Hiking. We even offer a number of treks in lesser known areas of the country, such as the Cordillera Blanca, where we were fortunate to trek to Laguna 69 in September 2012 with the help of our friends at Llanganuco Lodge. As well as trekking, the varied and dramatic landscapes of the Andes and the rainforest afford all kinds of opportunities for sustainable adventure travel. In the Sacred Valley, activities such as kayaking on Waypo lake and mountain biking from the ancient agricultural testing site of Moray allow you to escape life for a moment. One of our
