Explore The Peruvian Amazon With Aqua Expeditions’ New Vessel

Explore The Peruvian Amazon With Aqua Expeditions’ New Vessel, Aracari Travel

Seeing the Amazon River up close is the ultimate bucket list experience – and Peru, where the river begins, is the ideal place to make it happen. You can access the heart of the river from Peru, and of course, once you reach it, the best way to explore is by boat.

Enter Aqua Expeditions, a boutique luxury cruise company that introduces travelers to the Amazon in comfort and style. Aqua Expeditions’ newest vessel, the Aqua Nera, will set off on its inaugural Amazon river cruise voyage in October 2020. The brand new river cruise ship will be game changer in onboard luxury, with gorgeous design inspired by the beauty of the Peruvian Amazon and world class amenities so you can cruise in comfort. Onboard, you’ll dine on top-notch cuisine from Chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino, who is known for his expert ability to craft delicious meals from native Amazonian ingredients.

You’ll find indoor and outdoor bars, dining spaces, and cinemas so you can relax wherever you please. You’ll get to take in the stars each night from an observation deck, and enjoy the spa and outdoor deck plunge pool after long afternoons spent exploring the river. The vessel will also be stocked with launch boats, bicycles, and kayaks for you to use on your shore adventures.

Your Peruvian Amazon Journey

In the meantime, before Aqua Nera’s launch, Aqua Expeditions will continue to offer journeys on another fantastic vessel, the wonderful Aria Amazon. A few types of adventures you can expect on an Aqua Expeditions trip Amazon river cruise:

Journey From Your Departure Point

The Aqua Nera will depart from the Northeastern Peruvian city of Iquitos, which is just a short flight away from Lima and Cusco. Surrounding Iquitos is the head of the Amazon River, along with the incredible Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve.

Kayaking, Canoeing, And Swimming In Amazon Waters

Once you embark, you’ll spend your journey exploring the tributaries of the Amazon, along with the Amazon itself. Expert naturalists will guide you on regular excursions throughout the area, where you’ll be able to kayak, canoe, and swim while getting to know the local wildlife.

Lessons On Board

When lounging aboard the ship, you’ll be treated to onboard lectures and lessons about the Amazon River. Aqua Expeditions’ expert guides can educate you on all things Amazonian wildlife.

Meetings With Local Communities

On some Amazon river cruise trips, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with local communities who live along the river. You’ll get to spend time with villagers and get to know their traditions and folklore as they share a glimpse into their lives and cultures.

Jungle Walks

You may also be guided on walks through the depths of the high Amazon rainforest. Traipse across suspended bridges, see the biodiverse wildlife up close and personal, and finish your adventures with evening stargazing on the water.

Exploring And Fishing On Skiffs

As you cruise along the Amazon’s tributaries on comfortable skiffs, you’ll be invited to keep an eye out for pink Amazon river dolphins, songbirds, and other notable wild creatures. Fish for local piranhas and enjoy wildlife lessons from your naturalist guides.

Meals You’ll Never Forget

Thanks to Executive Chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino (his Lima restaurant, Malabar, is regarded as one of the best in the city), each meal will be an unforgettable culinary experience. Dishes will feature innovative uses of local ingredients and choices to suit every palate. Sip on cocktails and South American wine as you unwind each evening over dinner.

Breathtaking Sunrises And Sunsets

When you begin and end your day, you’ll be treated to world-class view of the sun rising and setting over the gorgeous Amazon River. With large floor-to-ceiling windows onboard, you’ll never miss out on views of your beautiful surroundings.

The Amazon is calling. Are you ready?
