Luxury Amazon Delfin II Cruise Review

Luxury Amazon Delfin II Cruise Review, Aracari Travel

Travel & Leisure calls River Cruising one of the “hottest new travel trends” in 2009 and with the launch of the new Delfin II river cruise; Peru is increasing becoming the River Cruising destination of choice.

Delfin II Luxury Amazon Cruise

I (Marisol) was lucky enough to journey on the Delfin II’s maiden voyage last week so I’m sharing my insider perspective on the journey. The cruise takes you through the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, the flooded forest in northeastern Peru. Since it’s almost impossible to visit the flooded forest while based in a lodge (75% of the area becomes flooded during the rainy season), cruising is the way to go.

Delfin II Cruise: Where Luxury Meets Authenticity

The starting point is where the Amazon technically begins. As you cruise upriver through the Amazon’s mighty tributary, the Ucayali, you will encounter breathtaking landscapes and a wide variety of rainforest fauna. I saw Monk Saki, capuchin and squirrel monkeys, at least 12 sloths, yellow & blue and scarlet macaws, trogons, kingfishers, white caiman, and the magical pink and gray dolphins.

2 years ago I had travelled on the Delfin I (cabin #7) and loved the experience. The boat is comfortable, the service was impeccable, and above all the experience was very personalized.

On the Delfin II, the boat is more than just your safe and comfortable base. It is a hand crafted base where everything you touch, feel, eat and drink reflects the surrounding forest. The 15 cabin Delfin II is taking luxury and authenticity in the Peruvian Amazon to new heights, so I would recommend the journey without hesitation for any tailormade trip Peru for luxury seekers looking for the best luxury experiences in Peru.
