Chef
Penelope Alzamora
Penelope is a charming Lima native whose culinary experience and natural charisma make any guest feel at home in her kitchen.
Penelope first began studying Hospitality at Newbury College outside of Boston, following with training in the Culinary Arts at Johnson & Wales in Providence, Rhode Island. Her passion for cooking blossomed into a career when she began teaching Peruvian cooking at the Tante Marie School of Cookery in San Francisco, and, with her family, opened a chain of three restaurants in Peru called Bohemia Café y Más, where she worked and partnered with legendary Peruvian chef Gastón Acurio, inarguably the most famous chef in South America. Despite being formally trained in the United States, Penelope identifies her passion for Peruvian cuisine because of its ancient roots, its ability to embrace and fuse international influences and the plethora of its textures, aromas, and flavors, inspiring her to share her knowledge of the gastronomy of her homeland with everyone who joins her in the kitchen.
