Specialist in Conservation
Franz Grupp
Franz Grupp, from Arequipa, is passionate about art and history conservation. He has studied paint and sculpture restoration in Peru, Italy, Spain, Brazil, and Colombia. His impressive restoration projects include murals in the Convent of San Francisco in Lima, artworks in the Colca Valley, and paintings in nearly every church in Arequipa, including the Cathedral and Santa Catalina. Grupp also helped present the Historical Center of Arequipa to UNESCO. As Director of the Museum of Viceregal Art in the Santa Teresa Monastery, he offers special guided tours. The monastery, dating back to 1710, is a living museum with intricately painted walls, colonial-era paintings, and historical artifacts still used by the nuns.
